Hot Tub Foundation

People always ask what kind of foundation they need for their new hot tub. Short answer- it varies. You need a level solid surface that can support the weight of a hot tub that’s filled with water. If you’re able to, we always prefer a reinforced concrete pad. However, you can also place your hot tub on a reinforced deck, paver patios, or we even sell EZpads that can be placed on gravel.

All of our hot tub weights are located on the paperwork we provide at the sale and we recommend sharing that information with the contractor as you are planning the hot tub foundation.

Delivery

Depending on how your delivery is set up, our hot tub delivery team will either slide it off the trailer into your spot, or flip it vertical on a dolly and wheel it into your backyard. Occasionally we have to crane tubs into back yards if the first two options aren’t workable.

Before the delivery team show up, we recommend:

-Walking the path to make sure all debris, chairs, landscaping is removed so that the dolly can get through.

-Pick up all animal waste in the path.

-If possible, schedule your electrician to arrive right after the hot tub is delivered so you can use it right away!!

Filling Your Hot Tub

When it comes to filling your hot tub for the first time, we recommend customers us a hose pre-filter to reduce the amount of heavy metals in your water. This is especially important if you are on a well.

Here’s a great video that our manufacturer, Master Spas, put together to help you fill your tub for the first time.

Chemical Start-up

It’s important to start off on the right foot with your water chemistry. The initial start-up can make water care easier and save time down the road. You’ll test the water in the hot tub, first checking the pH and total alkalinity. If the levels are out of range, you will balance those chemicals first.

Then, you will add sodium di-chlor granules to sanitize the water and components. For initial start-up, you will add more chlorine than what’s best for daily use. Aim for a level of 8 ppm.

We offer a monthly “water confidence” plan for those customers who want our professionally to stop by and check your tub over. If you’re interested in this service, feel free to call us at (217) 649-9133.
